Eye Health Care Tips

Computer Vision Syndrome: too much ZOOMing?

People who work long hours at the computer often complain of double vision, temporary nearsightedness and visual fatigue. Some suggestions that may help include:

  • Wear Rx lenses specifically designed for computer use and feature Blue-blocking Anti-glare treatment to reduce eye fatigue.

  • Use a screen filter to cut down on glare

  • Adjust the brightness and contrast of the monitor

  • Take frequent breaks- Follow the “20/20/20 Rule”: look up from the screen every 20 minutes and focus on an object 20 feet or more away to reduce eye fatigue.

  • Blink frequently and fully to keep your eyes well lubricated

Television: binge watching lately?

Wear your proper Rx so your vision is in best focus. Keep a distance of 8-10 feet or more between your eyes and the TV screen. Blink your eyes frequently while watching a program. Do not turn off the lights in the room. Give your eyes a break every half hour if you are watching a long program.

Healthy Diet: for your body and for your eyes!

A healthy diet that reduces your risk of diabetes, heart disease and cancer can also reduce your risks of eye diseases such as macular degeneration and chronic dry eye disease.
